40th conference of international association on research of sounds of breath

On September 24-25 the 40th anniversary conference of international association on research of sounds of breath took place at LETI.

On September 24-25 the 40th anniversary conference of international association on research of sounds of breath (ILSA – International Lung Sound Association) took place at LETI.

Conference is held annually in different countries and cities of the world however representatives of this community met in Russia for the first time. It became the appropriate response to the numerous researches conducted in our country in the field of respiratory acoustics and to pronounced interest in this subject from applied medicine.

Our university was chosen as the base for carrying out conference not accidentally. Organizers took into account the high level of carrying out the previous actions of the international level, rich scientific experience of university in the field of acoustics and biomedical equipment, incomparable beauty of St. Petersburg.

Event was held in English. The staff of Department of Bioengineering systems of ETU took active part in organization of the conference.

Within the conference distant session took place. For an hour and a half participants got acquainted with reports of scientists from Japan, Ukraine, East and Western coast of the USA in teleconference mode.

Conference was remembered to its participants by speeches of famous foreign experts in the field of research of sounds of breath, mainly from the USA, Japan, Norway and Israel, participation of Russian scientific groups, and also by the interest which was shown to this subject by young scientists – students and graduate students, attending physicians and interns.

The total number of registered listeners amounted to 136 people, and geography of Russian listeners covered practically all territory of Russian Federation from Vladivostok to St. Petersburg.

In a conference closing-time the president of ILSA Sadama Ishikava declared the conference held at LETI undoubtedly one of the best for all forty-year history of the organization.
