Summer school for students of Xuzhou Institute of Technology, who will begin training on September 1 within the framework of joint interuniversity educational program, started to work at the ETU.

During August, 27 Chinese boys and girls will improve their knowledge of Russian language every day. Teachers of Department of Russian Language of LETI who work in Xuzhou helped them to learn foundations of the language. Curriculum provides language practice on the following topics: "Scientific style of speech", "ETU "LETI "- Past and Present", "St. Petersburg - the largest research center", "History and Culture of St. Petersburg." The program also includes tours around the city along the Neva.

Agreement on cooperation between two institutions was signed in March 2011 in order to implement joint Bachelor Degree Program, which provides training of students, exchange of educational resources, curricula, teaching methods and course content.

On September 1, 2012 21 future Bachelors from Xuzhouhave started training in Russian at Department of Automatic Control Systems of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Automation. A year later they were joined by another 14 boys and girls from the partner university. Now the "Chinese diaspora" in classrooms and laboratories of LETI will become more numerous. After completing the course Chinese students have opportunity to continue their education on MA and postgraduate courses of LETI.

According to the reviews they are happy with their life and studies. They are settled in the hostel №7 - the best hostel of the university, that has been repaired recently. Group has two curators - deputy of dean of Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Automation V.B. Vtoroy and senior lecturer of Russian language Department N.N. Ovcharenko who provide maximum support to the children. Educational process runs successfully that is not surprising - the Chinese curricula of high school in due time were based on samples of the USSR.

It should be noted that the training of foreign nationals is held at "LETI" since the late 1940s. Until the mid-1960s the university prepared not only specialists for various sectors of Russian economy, but also engineering staff and personnel of higher qualification primarily for the socialist countries of Eastern Europe and Asia.

Since the second half of the 1960s geography of foreign students in LETI has grown substantially. Today the university has trained more than 3,500 engineers, bachelors and masters, 370 candidates of sciences and 5 doctors, who work in more than 60 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America. Today at the University there are about 500 students from more than 40 countries. Number of such students is increasing all the time.
