On Friday, November 8th, the representatives of ETU and the delegation of Benin had a meeting in the small conference hall on which they agreed about the beginning of a new phase of collaboration.
ETU was represented on this meeting by the Head of the Department on International Relations Maria V. Pavlovskaya and the Head of the Department on Work with Foreign Students Irina A. Shakhova. The Delegation of the Republic of Benin was headed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Benin in the Russian Federation Anicet Gabriel Kotchofa.
Two students from Benin who are in their fourth year of the bachelor degree program of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Automatics were invited to the meeting. They informed foreign dignitaries about the different aspects of living and studying at the Saint Petersburg State Electrotechnical University.
Nowadays, Benin is a rapidly developing country in need of highly qualified engineering and technical staff. Guests of our University initiated a new phase in development of relations, which includes increase of the number of students of the ETU from the Republic of Benin, and cooperation in scientific field. For one’s turn, the ETU expressed its interest in cooperation with African colleagues. There is a foundation for it – since 1970s students from Benin study in ETU.
