Lecture prepared by the publishing house Elsevier on topic "How to be published in journals indexed by Scopus and Web of Science» was held on March, 5 at videoconference hall in building 5 of the ETU "LETI".
Alexandra Nekrasova, who is a member of Central Office of Elsevier in Amsterdam and a specialist in training of Elsevier Publishing journals, touched upon the following subjects during a lecture: how to write a scientific article and make it be published in scientific journal. It was told about process of articles selection for publishing in journals, about how to choose a magazine for successful placing of articles.
Alexandra has repeatedly stressed that all the content that is published on the site of Elsevier is carefully selected and filtered. This is the difference between Elsevier and other Search Engines where even unnecessary information can be shown in result. In Elsevier accuracy and reliability are guaranteed.
Since the audience present at the hall was wide (there were both students and lecturers of various ETU departments), before her speech Alexandra asked the auditory to put their questions during and after her performance to make the lecture informative, useful and objective. Lively discussion thus was organized, a lot of questions were asked and they were mainly focused on two issues. The first was the search for funds for publication of articles. The second topic was devoted to the peculiarities of articles translation into English. According to Alexandra Nekrasova, for solving these problems one should turn for help to university in which scientists work: "Mostly either universities themselves sponsor scientific work of their employees or they receive grants and use the money to improve their scientific career."
It was also said that Russian practice of publishing scientific articles in the online publishers such as Elsevier is much less developed than in Europe or America: "Now the government sets problems to popularize this practice. The more we write, the more we are noticed. According to statistics, only one university of China reads more journal publications of Elsevier a year than all Russian universities."
Soon LETI will have a subscription to Elsevier and perhaps it will be a new step for future scientific achievements.
Elsevier is one of four publishing houses in the world offering products and innovative solutions in the field of science, education and medicine.
Scopus and Web of Science are platforms containing database of publications that can serve as a tool for tracking citations of articles published in scientific journals and patents.
