On March 16, 2016 Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University "LETI" celebrated the 157 th anniversary of the birth of radio inventor Professor Alexander S. Popov (1859- 1906) by LXVII citywide scientific readings.

Despite the fact that many words have been spoken during 67 years, every time we open the nuances in the subjekt of radiotechnique. "

Chief Researcher of the Institute of History of Science and Technology named after S.I. Vavilov RAS, Ph.D. Vasiliy Borisov, in his report on "Russian electronics in the 21st century: globalization and national interests," announced new perspective on the approach to the development of the industry. Electronics should seek the independance on imports - this is the main message of Borisov's performances.

Scientific secretary of the Memorial Museum of A.S. Popov, Ph.D. Michael Partala told the audience that the inventor of the radio left a noticeable trace in the history of Russian naval fleet.

According to the tradition, head of the museum complex, Honored Worker of Culture of Russia, Ph.D. Larisa I. Zolotinkina spoke about the history of radio in the early stages of its formation.


In the memorial Apartment Museum of A.S. Popov there were opened exhibitions of the founder of scientific and pedagogical school in the field of electricity, director of ETI in 1906-1912, Professor Pavel D. Voinarovsky (1866 - 1913) and founder of scientific and pedagogical schools in the field of telecommunications, director of ETI from 1918 to 1924, Professor Peter S. Osadchy (1866 - 1943).
The event finished in the living room of Appartment Museum of A.S. Popov with the sounds of Schubert, Rachmaninov, B. Marcello, G. Fauré.
