American professor James E. Butler is a recognized authority in physical and chemical analysis of a diamond surface. He is the head of the Diamond Research laboratory based at the ETU. It includes two candidates of sciences, three graduate students, three students who are currently studying at “LETI”, and also scientists of the Institute of Applied Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Nizhniy Novgorod city). The goal of researches is to develop technologies of growing semiconductor films of diamonds and create the prototypes of devices based on achievements in this area.
