"Our songs are sung on the war"

Theatrical concert "Our songs are sung on the war" dedicated to the 70th anniversary of full liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi siege took part on February 12, 2014 in the assembly hall in building 3.

Theatrical concert "Our songs are sung on the war" dedicated to the 70th anniversary of full liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi siege took part on February 12, 2014 in the assembly hall in building 3. The event aroused great interest of students, faculty and staff of the ETU - the house was full, many spectators were standing during the show.

Before the concert videos of the war years were shown on the screen. Then students of reserve-officer training department carried the national flag of the Russian Federation, St. Andrew's flag, and the banner of the ETU "LETI" by the center aisle of the assembly hall and placed them next to the stage. In his welcoming speech, Vice-Rector for Students work and social questions Nikolai V. Lysenko thanked the veterans and addressed students never to forget the feat of Leningrad residents. Professor of History of State, Culture and Law Department Vladimir V. Kalashnikov reminded students basic historical facts about the siege.

Presentation allowed the audience to learn about life during the blockade of Leningrad. Particular attention was paid to participation of LETI in the liberation of the city. In our university there was the hospital owing to which dozens of wounded were able to return to the ranks. Classes in the auditoriums continued despite the war, hunger and cold. 1,200 students of our university were mobilized to the front, graduates of LETI worked on enterprises during the war, many of inventions of our scientists were applied in military equipment of the Soviet Army. Furthermore, students of LETI contributed to the cultural heritage. K. Rizhov and A. Kolker wrote lyrics for the film "Chronicle of a dive bomber". Group of composers formed in the House of the Navy at LETI created music for heroic comedy "Sea is spread broadly" which was released on November 7, 1942.

Dance routines, songs and reading of war years poems in the performance of students and teachers of LETI were presented during the evening. Special guests were pupils of creative center "Edelweiss" who performed a dance to music "Goodbye, boys ' and medley of war songs.

At the end of the concert all participants entered on the stage. Chairman of LETI Board of Veterans, Professor Anatoly A. Buznikov, thanked the creative group and the audience for respect to the great feat of Leningrad.
