Plenary Session of the 68th scientific and technical conference of ETU faculty members

On January 28, 2015 the 68th scientific and technical conference of ETU faculty members opened.

On January 28, 2015 the 68th scientific and technical conference of ETU faculty members dedicated to the development of scientific fields and application of new knowledge in the learning process opened.

On the first day plenary session was held. It was attended by foreign guests of the University.

"Today our university is in the process of implementation of new road map which was approved in March 2014. One of the subjects of discussion will be the development of new curricula in the frameworks of transition to educational standards "GEF 3+." Component of our activities will be conference of young researchers in the field of electrical engineering and electronics where young professionals - participants of the Northwest section of IEEE – will take part. One of the main implementation of the roadmap is internationalization and development of interdisciplinary research. I sincerely thank our guests for having agreed to come up with very interesting reports which will undoubtedly contribute to promising directions of our university development, "- said ETU Rector V.M. Kutuzov in his welcoming speech.

Professor of the Autonomous University of Barcelona Ferran Martin dedicated his report "Artificial transmission lines based on metamaterials and some microwave applications" to the main properties of metamaterials and about possibility of creating devices with unique characteristics.

Report of Michael Wirth, Director of Business Development of IBM in Eastern Europe and Asia, was devoted to extensive work in the field of cognitive science. The first major result of a decade – long research has become a microchip TrueNorth capable to perform mental and cognitive processes on a small scale. Final cause is creating of computer capable of fully simulation of brain function.

Plenary meeting was concluded by report of Professor ETU Department of Physical Electronics and Technologies on topic "New Materials for Microelectronics Microwave: multiferroics, their physics and applications." 

The conference will be held in sections within scientific and educational areas. Details can be found in the program (in Russian).
