Topical issues of energetics: German alumni of Russian and Soviet universities share their experience
March 24, 2018 Go East Generationen e.V. and ETU “LETI” will host the 2nd European Alumni Forum in Berlin.
This year the theme of the event will be "Energy – resources, technology and social change". The Forum will accommodate alumni of Russian and Soviet universities who live in Europe and cooperate with Russia, and also students, young researchers, representatives of the economic sector, political and cultural spheres, civil society organizations, аs well as professionals in conducting and organizing education and research cooperation endeavors.
The event will start at 9:00 a.m. CET in Russian House of Science and Culture (Berlin, Friedrichstraße 176–179). Representatives of Go East Generationen e.V., ETU "LETI", Russian House of Science and Culture in Berlin and alumni of Russian and Soviet universities will present their welcoming speeches.
Four seminars will be taking place simultaneously from 10:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. The first one is titled as "Energy Technology - today and tomorrow". Participants will discuss European energy issues and the ways to resolve them. Drawbacks and benefits of various renewable energy sources (particularly solar and wind) will be also analyzed.
The second seminar is titled as "Smart grids and energy storage – recent trends". The issues of centralized and decentralized energy generation, smart grid development and energy accumulation are on the agenda.
"Energy application – electricity – heat – transportation – mobility" is another option to attend. At the workshop energy use for heat and electric transportation will be discussed.
How does energy transition affect each one of us and our society? Do society, economy and politics have the ability to change a country’s energy system? These questions will be answered at the seminar titled "Energy transition – individual and society".
Guests will meet at Russian House of Science and Culture for a plenary meeting from 2:30 p.m. till 5:30 p.m. Sergey Y. Nechaev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Germany and Dietmar Voidke, Minister President of Brandenburg will give their welcoming speeches. Next, reports will be made by Christian Pegel, Minister of Energetics, Infrastructure and Digitalization of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern; Michael Harms, Managing Director of German Committee for Eastern European Economic Relations; Klaus-Dieter Barbknecht, Rector of TU Bergakademie Freiberg.
During the forum universities, associations and enterprises will present their projects and innovations.
After the official part of the meeting is over Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Germany will invite everyone to the reception at the Russian Embassy in Berlin (Unter den Linden 63-65).
