Workshop “Some stochastic optimization applications to renewable energy and public health”
Workshop “Some stochastic optimization applications to renewable energy and public health” will be held at Automatic Control Systems Department on May 18, 2018.
Speaker: Bismark Singh
The University of Texas at Austin
Time: 13:00 – 15:00
I present an overview of a few optimization models, motivated by applications to public health and renewable energy. This work forms part of my PhD dissertation in operations research. The first half consists of models to distribute antivirals and vaccines during an influenza pandemic. We build web-based decision support tools to assist the state of Texas during future pandemics, publicly available at: http://flu.tacc.utexas.edu/.
Next, I discuss the scheduling of a hybrid wind-diesel generator and a pumped hydro power plant. Each of the topics include novel optimization models, and some of these are published already.
