XVII International Conference on Soft Computing and Measurements (SCM'2014) was held in Saint-Petersburg on the base of St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University "LETI" and St. Petersburg State Forest Technical University (FTU) will take place from 21 to 23 of May 2014.

The conference opened on May 21 at St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University "LETI", where a plenary session and work of the first two sessions of the conference were held.


On May 22 conference continued its work in St. Petersburg State Forest Technical University on five breakout sessions.

Russian and foreign scientists made about 60 reports  and conference proceedings were published on the conference.

Seven breakout sessions on topical issues in the field of soft computing and measurements were held in the frame of the conference.

Section 1. Uncertainty in measurements and calculations. Probabilistic methods in information processing. Bayesian approach (led by S. V. Prokopchina).

Section 2. System modelling. Managing of complex objects in uncertain environment (led by M. Shestopalov).

Section 3. Neurocomputing networks, genetic algorithms and their applications (led by M. S. Kupriyanov).

Section 4. Methods and tools for design of expert systems and decision support systems (led by L.V. Utkin).

Section 5. Intelligent measuring systems. New approaches to measurement: intelligent, soft and fuzzy measurements (led by S. V. Prokopchina).

Section 6. Environmental information systems (led by V.L. Gorokhov).

Section 7. Application of decision support systems in the economy and social sphere (led by S. V. Prokopchina).

The Conference on Soft Computing and Measurements (SCM-2014) attracted the attention of new members, formulated new research directions, substantiated the need for their development.
